Safety in the studio during the Coronavirus pandemic

23 Pentire Avenue, Southampton, SO15 7RT

To enable the yoga studio to operate safely, I need to assess and manage the risks of COVID-19, identify and manage the risks to you, my customer/s, and not contribute to the spread of the virus. I have a legal responsibility to protect you from risk to your health and safety; this means I need to think about the risks you face and do everything reasonably practical to minimise them, recognising that I cannot completely eliminate the risk of COVID-19.

I have identified the following measures that I hope you will find reasonable, and sensible. Please feel comfortable to speak up if you think a measure I have put in place is not sufficient, or there is a risk I have overlooked that needs addressing, as we are all in this together.

  • Do not attend class if you or a household member have developed symptoms of COVID-19: a new continuous cough, a high temperature, or loss of smell or taste.

Cleaning and Hand Washing

  • I will wash my hands, and clean surfaces regularly.
  • You can use the studio equipment, recognising that this is an added risk. I will clean shared equipment after every use.
  • We will stay 2 metres apart, and wear a mask where this is not possible.
  • I will provide hand sanitiser, but you won’t be able to use the toilet/hand washing sink at this time, unless it is an emergency.
  • There will be sufficient break time between classes in order to appropriately clean the studio and equipment.

  • Bring your own yoga mat, but otherwise minimal belongings. Please go to the toilet, and wash your hands at home before coming to class.
  • Wear a face mask, and leave your shoes outside.
  • Inside, you will be offered hand sanitiser.
  • Then take your mat and belongings to the furthest mat space available, I will guide you, and there will be markings on the floor as to where to put you mat. Keep your belongings beside you. You can now take off your mask. There will be two metres between each person once you are on the mats.
  • Please wait patiently if there is someone ahead of you gelling hands/ finding a position.
  • To depart, the person closest to the door will leave first. Please be patient.

  • The windows, and/or door of the studio will be open to allow adequate ventilation. However, there is a balance to be had between minimising risk, and ensuring comfort, so please let me know if you are too cold.

  • Please pay via bank transfer, minimal cash handled at this time.

Terms and Conditions

  • Prepayment only.
  • Cancellation up to 24 hours’ notice before the class, 100% refund.
  • No refunds for cancellation within 24 hours of the class.

NHS Test and Trace

  • I have to keep a temporary record of your visit for 21 days, and must assist NHS Test and Trace with requests for that data if needed.
  • I will hold the following data about you: name, mobile number, date and times of entry and exit. This is so that each person could be contacted if there is a case of COVID-19 connected to the facility, and could help contain clusters or outbreaks.

We are all in this together so please feel comfortable to speak up if you think a measure I have put in place is not sufficient, or there is a risk I have overlooked that needs addressing.

See you for a safe lesson.
